Bow Valley College South Campus Phase 2

Institutional

Bow Valley College (BVC) is a comprehensive Community College located in downtown Calgary. The new South Campus opened in January 2013, and is intended to accommodate the growth of several thousand new students. In addition to the new classrooms and learning spaces, the South Campus houses Administrative and Executive offices, a Chapel, Student Services, bookstore, food services, and an Aboriginal Centre.

GEC Architecture took inspiration from the diverse cultural background of the students attending BVC, and incorporated symbolic cultural references into the facility via thoughtful finish selection and glazing details. This is notably exhibited in the Aboriginal Centre, where lodge pole pine ceiling treatments and etched glass pictograms reference the aboriginal culture.

With the addition of the South Campus, Bow Valley College is positioned to respond to the needs of the students, and to accommodate the growth of several thousand full-time equivalent learners. This new facility is a light filled, efficient and inspiring space for students to enhance their learning experience.
